| Khun Tong’s moments from his visit to Alsace |
For more than three decades, Blue Elephant has challenged the traditional fine-dining assumption that wine and Thai cuisine cannot coexist. Instead of allowing wine to dominate the meal, the vision was to create a “new dialect” where private-label bottles are specifically designed to understand and complement aromatic Thai spices.
The Evolution of Cuvée Siamoise
The culmination of this 45-year journey was the 2023 release of Cuvée Siamoise, Blue Elephant’s first Thai-produced wine.
- Collaboration: Created in partnership with GranMonte Vineyard in Khao Yai, Thailand’s premier award-winning winery.
- Terroir: While the name draws from European heritage, the soul of the wine is rooted in Thai soil, crafted to match the structure and heat of local cuisine.
- Pairing Excellence: Designed to balance everything from the “green heat” of curry to the deep, rich aromatic notes of a signature Massaman.
A Legacy of Global Friendship: From Alsace to Bangkok
The story of Blue Elephant’s wine is deeply personal, built on decades of mutual respect between Thai and French experts.
- The Beyer Partnership: For over 30 years, a central pillar of the wine program has been the collaboration with the renowned Beyer family in Alsace, France.
- Khun Tong’s Journey: In 2024, Blue Elephant sommelier Khun Tong traveled to Alsace to deepen this bond. Despite the language barrier, he found a timeless connection through the shared language of wine.
- Artistic Innovation: This legacy is now celebrated through a new, exclusive wine label. Illustrated by rising Thai artist @iamthesenseinu, this bespoke label is available only within Blue Elephant’s walls.
Whether it is a French blend refined in Alsace or a tropical vintage from Khao Yai, every bottle uncorked at Blue Elephant tells a story of cross-cultural innovation and the perfect harmony of flavors.
