Khun Sompong Saejew
Executive chef
Special skill: Chiang Mai Cuisine
Khun Sompong is the latest addition to the London Blue
Elephant’s kitchens, but he is by no means the least. He
joined the restaurant in December 2002 as Executive Chef,
after a spell of about six months assisting in the launching
of the Blue Elephant Cooking school in Bangkok. There he was
inspirational in introducing some new, exciting dishes.

Khun Vinai Sookma
Special skill: Fruit, Vegetable and Ice Carving
Vinai is the son of a farmer in Central Thailand. He served a long apprenticeship with the famous Club Med of Phuket where he was trained as a specialist in both vegetable and fruit carving and ice carving. He soon became, due to his immense talent, responsible for all the carvings of the huge daily buffet, the speciality of the Club Med Phuket.
He also attended the Khao Wandee cooking school in Bangkok and became dessert
chef, joining the Blue Elephant Group in 1996.

Khun Surapol
Sri-Aim
Special skill: Quality Control
Good natured, pleasant and ever friendly Khun Surapol is First Chef at the Blue Elephant London.
He is an organiser and is currently in charge of all the food orders that are placed on a day to day basis by this immense & busy restaurant.

Khun Oula
Special skill: Seafood
Lovely and bubbly by nature, Parichat Yoodee (called Oula affectionately) was born in Bangkok, Thailand, where she graduated in Home economics specialising in Thai Cooking. She then came to London in 1990 to further her cooking skills, and found employment in the Blue Elephant on January 1991. Oula has not looked back since.

Khun Maksavanh
Souvannavong (Tou)
Special skill: Starters
Maksavanh Souvannavong, affectionately known as Tou, was born in the Thai-Laotian border to a Thai mother and Laotian father. At thirteen, Tou’s family migrated to Belgium.
There he started working in the 1st Blue Elephant in Belgium, initially as a waiter. On his request, he moved to the kitchen and was trained by Khun Layed and Khun Teo, the very first of Blue Elephant cooks and major contributors to setting the standards that became the group's hallmark.

Khun Chaliew
Plangsri
Special skill: Southern Thai Cuisine
Khun Chaliew was born and brought up in the Muand District in Thailand. He always had an interest in Thai cooking and had no doubt, even at a young age, that cooking would be his future. After a short spell in the army, he took his first steps towards the catering industry by starting work in his first hotel, the Grande Ville Hotel Wangburapa in Bangkok as a Helper cook.

Khun Srisak
Wangtaphan
Special skill: Stir fry
Khun Srisak comes from a very large and close knit family in Nakornphanom in the North-East region of Thailand, close to the Laos border. At thirteen he left school to join his sister in Laos who was a cook for a prominent family. These early years with his sister in the kitchens of a bustling household steered his interest towards the profession which would latter on become his career.

Khun Suk
Saosomphop
Special skill: Stir fry
Khun Tim is the second half of the husband-wife partnership in the Blue Elephant in London. Her story is quite similar to that of her husband. Born and educated in the Esaarn region in Thailand, Khun Tim, whose real name is Suk, advented to Bangkok as a young lady to work in a family household.

Khun Dao

Khun Dao is one part of a husband-wife chef team working at the Blue
Elephant in London. He is tall, good looking in a cheerful sort of
way. It is therefore, not surprising that when he first started
working as a young man in Bangkok, it was in the service section of
the international S&P group of restaurants in Thailand.

Khun Bounsavath
Thongsavanh (Vath)
Special skill: North-East Cuisine
Khun Bounsavath Thongsavahn (appropriately nicknamed Vath) is another of those exceptional Chefs who is native of Laos. Also born in Luangphaban, Khun Vath moved to Belgium in 1983 to join his sister in Liege. After graduating, Khun Vath found himself in the kitchens of the Blue Elephant in Brussels, where he gained invaluable first hand knowledge under the founding chefs there.

Khun Aun Sae-Lee
Special skill: Thai Soups
Khun Aun, Blue Elephant Soup Specialist, joined her husband in UK in 1988 when he was recruited by the Group as a First Chef for what was the then upcoming Thai restaurant in London. Her husband has since left the company, but Khun Aun has opted to remain with us.

Khun Sauwaluck

Khun Sauwaluck, or just ‘Luck’ as she is more popularly known as, is the pleasant faced and motherly wife of Khun Surapol. She joined her husband at the Blue Elephant in London in 2000 as First Chef. Like her husband, Khun Luck has worked for various hotels in Bangkok and Manila as commi chef or assistant chef.

Khun Sisouphanh Phiravong

Small in stature but big at heart and not to mention tremendous in cooking skills, Khun Phan (real name being Sisouphan Phiravong) is the current ‘Starter Chef’ for the Blue Elephant London. All the 400 or so orders of starters each night pass through his capable hands.
