The Blue Elephant restaurant in Copenhagen is once again celebrating
the “Festival of Lights” with a sumptuous Menu

There is water everywhere in Thailand and this plays a special
part in the life of its people.

At the end of the harvest, when the new season starts, a special
celebration is held during the full moon on the 12th Month of the year.
The celebration of: LOY KRATHONG

This Festival of Lights, honours and gives homage to the spirits
of the waters Mae “King-Ka”

It is in the middle of the 13th century, during the Kingdom of Sukhothai,
that this tradition started. Everywhere in the country, lakes, streams,
rivers are covered with miniature boats made of banana leaves called
“Krathong” contain flowers, essence, candles and a coin, float on
the waters giving the impression of thousands fairy lights.

This moving pageant takes on a magical aura.

Of course, Thai food is a celebration in itself.

The Menu for the Festival of Lights at the BLUE ELEPHANT
has been created and composed by our chef Sathit SRIJETTANONT,
and includes eight new and exciting specialities

The Festival runs until the 31 January 2004
